Hugh "Baby Shaq" Jones with Trophy and Rajon Rondo
SBA All-Star and D.C. Legend Hugh "Baby Shaq" Jones defeated New Orleans native Lance Perique, 18-9, in the finals of the Red Bull King of the Rock one-on-one basketball tournament held Saturday night on Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay.
Baby Shaq was the last one standing of 64 total basketball players representing 13 countries who qualified to make the tournament. Baby Shaq took home the $10,000 first-place prize by using his amazing strength, atheticism, and strong post-up game backing down and physically wearing out his opponents. At 6-foot-3, the 230-pound Baby Shaq continues to tear up all leagues, tournaments, and competitions he takes part in. Baby Shaq most recently was headlined in the much hyped Drew vs. Goodman League street ball game where Babay Shaq was one of the only non-NBA players featured in the game.
The King of the Rock Tournament is in its second year of the tournament, where half-court one-on-one competitions are held in the old Alcatraz prison's recreation yard.
Last night in the Alcatraz prison yard, Washington D.C.’s Hugh “Baby Shaq” Jones beat Lance Perique of New Orleans to win the 2011 Red Bull King of the Rock one-on-one basketball tournament.
Jones took home $10,000, a championship trophy, and bragging rights as the “new king.”
Back in August Baby Shaq won the DC tournament to qualify for the Championship Tournament. Baby Shaq is a SBA All-Star, SBA DC Legend, Goodman League MVP, and has also been featured on the And1 Mixtape Tour, Nike Battleground Champion, and has dominated a number of professional basketball leagues in the U.S. (ABA, PBL, ACPBL, UBA, and EBA) as well as playing in a number of international competitions throughout Europe with the SBA All-Stars.
The time is now for any NBA Team in need of one of the most physically gifted professional basketball players in the world. Baby Shaq is the BEST One-on-One player in the World! Attention NBA Teams: Bring Mr. Hugh Jones to training camp when the lock-out finally gets resolved!
